Rencontrer les moniteurs

GRAY, Michelle (Monitrice principale) It’s my pleasure to be back at the French Academy as this summer’s Lead RA. I am currently working on a Master’s Degree at Paris Diderot University where I study all things English and American… from a French point of view. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in French and studied for a year in Lyon. I also worked as an English teaching assistant in Belfort. I enjoy running at the state park in my hometown of Virginia Beach. I can’t wait to meet you fellow French language enthusiasts!
DeSOUZA, Nick I am a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University who grew up speaking French at home in Falls Church, Virginia. Ever since graduating from high school, I have jumped at opportunities to incorporate French language and culture into my life. My love for everything Francophone has led me to pursue a French independent study about France’s proprietary champagne market, work for the French Film Festival in Richmond, Virginia, and travel to several French speaking countries. For the past two summers, I have come to appreciate how rewarding an experience immersive summer programs are working for VCU and the Boy Scouts of America. Now, I am thrilled to immerse myself in the culture I have grown so fond of as an RA at the Académie Française this summer.
HENDRICKS, Elsie Bonjour!! I’m a rising senior at Allegheny College, where I am deeply invested in my European Studies major and my Violin Performance minor. I have a rather absurd love of languages and cultures, and I am currently studying the literature, culture, language and history of France, Spain, Germany and England. I was born in the United States, but I spent most of my childhood in rural France, where I went to public school for six years. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be an RA at the Académie Française for the last two summers and I am delighted to once again be a part of this incredible program. À bientôt!
RABUSE, Emma Bonjour! My name is Emma Rabuse, and I am from Chesapeake, Virginia.  I am a rising sophomore at Washington and Lee University. I am currently studying French, politics, and music. I was a student at the French Academy in 2015. The experience of being immersed in the language and learning more about Francophone cultures and societies has enriched me significantly as a student and person. I had a wonderful experience as an Académicienne and I am excited to return as a mono this year!
PARKS, Isabel Bonjour! My name is Isabel Parks. I am a rising sophomore at Dartmouth College. I am planning to double major in Romance Languages (French and Spanish) and in English (with a concentration in creative writing). I plan to study in Paris this upcoming Fall and pursue an externship there in the winter. Along with Emma, I attended the French Academy in 2015. I am beyond excited to meet all of you and to come back to the Academy as a mono.
WRIGHT, Kristine Salut! I was born and raised in Northern Virginia and I attended the Académie myself as a high school student during the summer of 2013! I am currently studying English and French at the University of St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland and I will graduate in 2018. This year, however, I have been studying at the Université Paris-Sorbonne in Paris, France. Throughout my time at St Andrews and at the Sorbonne, I have been fortunate enough to travel widely around Europe and also to China and Morocco. I greatly appreciate other cultures, cuisines, literatures, and languages, and I can’t wait to be a part of the wonderful Académie experience for other students!
